Office OpenXML
The deluge of electronic documentation has resulted in the creation of a wide variety of document formats. With globalization forces and geographically spread locations, the need to share these formats has become increasingly important. Major inhibitors to seamless sharing of information are multiple, non-compatible electronic document formats. Microsoft understood the pressing requirement for interoperability of document formats and decided to support XML through their Office OpenXML (OOXML) initiative.
Professionals across an organization can hugely benefit from the common data format provided by XML because of its capacity to be read by varied applications, platforms and Internet browsers.
