Looking back at 2017, it has been an eventful year for Halosys product engineering. Halosys, as a platform, now has a richer list of features on optimization and usability.

The number of mobile phone users globally is expected to cross the 5 billion mark by 2019. What this means for enterprises is that this revolution is already sweeping into companies as more firms take advantage of mobile technology to better engage with and empower employees, boosting their efficiency, making location irrelevant and streamlining processes.

While the age of the desktop was already well and truly over, smartphones are fast becoming the go-to enterprise device to do business. GlobalStats, a research arm of the web analytics company StatCounter, reported in November last year that Android was now the primary OS used by nearly 40% of businesses worldwide, while Windows dropped down to 36.07%.

With smartphones becoming ubiquitous, perhaps the biggest trend we are seeing is the proliferation of mobile apps. A report by released by App Anni in mid-2017 found that smartphone users access over 30 apps on a monthly basis. From ordering groceries to filling in time sheets to losing weight, people are using apps for practically everything. On their part, businesses are launching new apps at an unprecedented pace.

Over the last year, the buzz around AI seems to have reached a crescendo. Every day, we’re seeing new applications and innovations around AI. AI or cognitive computing is quickly becoming all pervasive. Being the next generation of computing systems, cognitive computing allows organisations to make strategic decisions, augment, accelerate and scale human expertise, by enabling unprecedented levels of human-machine collaboration.
